About us
A local association caring for one lake, carefully and consistently
Lehmijärven Suojeluyhdistys ry is an officially registered Finnish conservation association (PRO ID: 30360429). Rooted in the rich tradition of Finnish nature protection, our association brings together local residents, land owners, researchers, and environmental advocates to safeguard Lake Lehmijärvi and its surrounding aquatic ecosystems. We combine scientific environmental monitoring with local volunteer engagement to ensure that our waters remain clean, biodiverse, and healthy for generations to come.
Our work is unpaid, practical and seasonal. In spring we prepare sampling equipment and plan shoreline work; in summer we take measurements and meet residents; in autumn we review results with partners; in winter we plan, report and prepare the year ahead. Members receive summaries of every monitoring round, and anyone living or spending time around the lake is welcome to join.
Our mission
To conserve, protect, and restore the ecological health of Lake Lehmijärvi and its catchment area through active water management, community education, biodiversity protection, and sustainable local practices.
Our vision
A thriving, pristine freshwater ecosystem where nature and community coexist sustainably, setting a benchmark for local water protection and ecological preservation across Finland.
